About the Journal

Margaret Cavendish: A Multidisciplinary Journal is an open access, international, and peer-reviewed journal, which is affiliated with the International Margaret Cavendish Society. MCMJ is published with support of the Advanced Humanities Program at the University of Queensland.

Peer Review Process

This journal practices double-blind peer review.

If a submission does not seem to fit the journal, an initial rejection will be decided by two editors.  Otherwise, all submissions are sent out for peer-review. 

Open Access Policy

MCMJ provides immediate open access to its content, making research freely available to the public, which supports a more equitable and greater global exchange of knowledge.

Focus and Scope

MCMJ publishes articles and reviews about Margaret Cavendish and her contemporaries, including the Cavendish family and their intellectual circle. It also features work about early modern women writers and explores the wider culture in which Cavendish’s intellectual accomplishments flourished as well as later writers who may have been influenced by her.

The journal welcomes submissions from all disciplines, including History of Science, Women and Gender Studies, Literature, Philosophy, History,Politics, Theology, Feminist and Queer Theory, Education, and Digital Humanities.
